" The cornerstones of our family are forged of dreams of travelling this beautiful planet with our babies and being able to come back to a place that feels like home. "

We are so privileged to have a glimpse into Chloe and Talib's enchanted life that they share with their baby girl, Nalu. Being truly wild of heart, they are inspired by the romantic but utterly achievable goal of living a sustainable and creative lifestyle whilst nurturing different projects they are passionate about. Together, they unite their skills to create the most awe inspiring campervans; beautiful spaces designed to take you on your journey into the unknown in blissful comfort, a space that will offer a sanctuary from the world outside.
" You see we're not sure if we will ever find our 'forever' place, for we are nomads at heart and homesick for wildness, that primal allegiance that taps us all on the shoulder sometimes. I think we feel a little less homesick for this primal pull living off the grid, a little less domesticated. A reminder that all the elements, oceans and jungles are out there, waiting to be explored.
After a few years of backpacking and living in our early self-build Campervans (at the beginning of our love story), we felt the urge to nest and to live in a place just for us. Along with making Photographic work, we established our campervan conversion company "Indigo & Olive' in late 2018, we found a love for making tiny, sustainable homes for people and ignited a love for design. Our consequent builds gave us the confidence to create our own home and showed us that this didn't have to be made from brick and motar. We decided a bus would be the perfect place to start, for it kept our minds at ease; we were still free, unbound to one place if we chose to move on. You see we're not sure if we will ever find our 'forever' place, for we are nomads at heart and homesick for wildness, that primal allegiance that taps us all on the shoulder sometimes. I think we feel a little less homesick for this primal pull living off the grid, a little less domesticated. A reminder that all the elements, oceans and jungles are out there, waiting to be explored.
We also thought it would be a very sweet little first home when we grew our family and it has been just that. As it happens, we’re still living where we first parked up, we got super lucky and live in a forest in Pembrokeshire, right by our favourite coastline in the UK. The sea scapes have offered us refuge, peace and nourishment, and are the setting to so many special memories.
Living this way has meant a few things for our family and being off - grid (especially in the winter) isn’t always easy… but what we treasure above everything is time spent together in the outdoors. Choosing to live this way means we have so much breathing space, we can dance to our own rhythm. We don’t have lots of space and there's certainly always a list of jobs to keep on top of in the winter, but it turns out you really don’t need that much to be happy. In fact we find the less we have, the better we feel.
" Our tiny home is her safe haven, her den, sprinkled with her little bits and bobs. It’s a wonderful space to have a child, to be always close to them, for them to join in all your day to day activities. "
We treasure time spent in the outdoors, where real life (outside of the ideas and constructs of society) and beauty is constantly unfolding. Our daughter Nalu came along after a year of living in our bus home and everyday she shows us how it’s been so worth it. Our tiny home is her safe haven, her den, sprinkled with her little bits and bobs. It’s a wonderful space to have a child, to be always close to them, for them to join in all your day to day activities. She was born in the forest and knows it’s quiet, peaceful nature. She’s grown up with the ocean, playing on the sand and watching the sun set over the horizon.
Although it can be quite wet and cold in Wales for a big part of the year, it doesn’t stop us from spending so much of our time outside. We couldn’t do that without reliable waterproofs and we always have our toastie essentials on hand to to slip on so we can jump in that puddle … squelch in the mud …. Paddle and splash in the ocean!
We hope living this way we show Nalu how beautiful and fun the world is, that she’ll learn to feel at home outdoors, to use her creativity and imagination, to feel connected. To grow up with a deep respect for the world. To feel free and wild going out on that blustery day in the mountains and know she can come home to a toasty fire in her bus in the woods.
We may not always live in such a small space, but we hope to be off the grid, in the nature, beating our own drum, and thank the bus for providing our baby with a little sanctuary to call home. "
